Nick Jr’s Yo Gabba Gabba show creators Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz invited us to participate in creating content for their children-aimed yet adult friendly show which accomplices a variety of musicians and actors like Elijah Wood, Rahzel, and Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh. The project was wide open creatively and presented a great opportunity to do something fun and inspirinig. The team at PandaPanther assembled miniature stop motion sets, props and environments to help construct a fantastical voyage that follows the title character “Mika” through several dreamscapes which would even make Freud envious. Aided by the wispy indie-folk chimes of tahiti80 and their song “Train Ride,” the eye-catching story takes Mika from the comforts of her bed through a bubble-driven space trek, a confrontation with jello, a stop in a candy-filled wonderland, a labyrinthine journey inside the belly of a dinosaur and onto an underwater ride back to “ramen world” then back to her sleepy domestic bliss.
